Internships at BIOS

One task. A result you can verify.

Explore a health product through a concrete engineering or product task. Start with a small scope and clear quality criteria.

We are collecting expressions of interest. This is not a guaranteed intake.

01
Engineering and testing

Deliverable: a reproducible test and a small verified patch.

02
Data quality

Deliverable: a discrepancy report and validation rules.

03
Product and accessibility

Deliverable: an acceptance scenario and justified interface changes.

Where you could contribute

Examples for discussion. We agree the exact scope before work starts.

01

Engineering and testing

Reproduce a bug using fictional data, propose a fix and demonstrate that the test detects the original defect.

Deliverable: a reproducible test and a small verified patch.

02

Data quality

Check units, dates and provenance in a synthetic dataset. Distinguish ambiguous values from confirmed observations.

Deliverable: a discrepancy report and validation rules.

03

Product and accessibility

Review one user journey, such as signing in, uploading a document or correcting a fact. Check errors, keyboard use and small screens.

Deliverable: an acceptance scenario and justified interface changes.

04

Clinical informatics

Map terminology from a permitted public source to an educational dataset. Record provenance, limitations and questions for a qualified reviewer.

Deliverable: a verifiable terminology map, with no patient advice.

How the work is organised

01

Application

Your interests, experience, available time and a work sample. A student project is welcome.

02

Agreement

Discuss the task, supervisor, duration, workload and terms before any work starts.

03

Short cycle

Agree the deliverable, work in a separate environment and share an intermediate result.

04

Review

Assess the result against the agreed criteria. Any further collaboration is discussed separately.

Health product work needs clear boundaries

Start with synthetic data or permitted public materials. Access to medical data, clinical decisions and live services is never automatic. Interns do not make treatment decisions or activate changes independently.

Agree the terms before starting

Available places and supervision, dates, format, weekly hours, payment, contract and permission to share work in a portfolio are discussed individually. Applying does not guarantee participation, employment or a certificate.

Open internship application

Tell us what you can do and which task you would like to explore. A CV is optional: a student project link or a short account of your experience is enough.

Do not include identity documents or medical information. Check that linked materials do not disclose other people’s personal information.
