Methodology

BIOS turns medical facts into a hypothesis to be tested.

For each hypothesis, the system retains sources and shows a possible association, alternative explanations and missing data.

1
Fact

A normalised value with a source and time.

Evidence
2
Possible association

An observation that can be tested.

Assumption
3
Hypothesis

Rationale, alternatives and missing data.

Under review
4
Decision

The doctor's clinical decision and responsibility.

Six steps

How an AI hypothesis is formed

If data is insufficient or contradictory, the system does not produce a definitive statement.

01

Preserve provenance

Source, time, units and version.

02

Normalise

Names and units are mapped to reference vocabularies.

03

Select facts

Only data needed for the task and permitted for analysis.

04

Form a hypothesis

Supporting evidence, contradictions and gaps.

05

Check safety

Policy, wording and clinical limits.

06

Refer to a doctor

The doctor confirms, refines or rejects it.

Hypothesis structure

A hypothesis explains how it can be tested

Uncertainty cannot be reduced to a single number.

Illustrative example

“Changes in a measurement may be associated with a change in health or measurement conditions”

This is a direction for investigation, not a diagnosis or a reason to change treatment on your own.

Supporting evidence

  • precise dates and values;
  • links to documents;
  • relevant changes over time.

Contradictions

  • inconsistent measurements;
  • alternative explanations;
  • source limitations.

Missing data

  • what prevents verification;
  • which facts are needed;
  • what cannot be concluded.

Next step

  • a question for the doctor;
  • clarification of a document;
  • monitoring under a specialist's plan.

Sources

Different data carries different evidential weight

Version and applicability are stored with the claim.

Limits

What BIOS does not do

Defining the scope of use is part of safety.

01

Does not diagnose

A BIOS result does not replace an examination, diagnostic assessment or a medical professional's opinion.

02

Does not prescribe treatment

The system must not be used to stop, start or change treatment on your own.

03

Does not conceal missing data

When facts are insufficient, identifying the gap and stopping the analysis is an acceptable result.

The methodology requires independent validation.
