A meeting place for science and industry
From 22 to 25 September, the science town of Koltsovo in the Novosibirsk Region will host The 13th Russian Biotechnology Forum OpenBio. This multi-format event brings researchers, technology companies, developers and investors together to discuss scientific results and their industrial applications.
The forum combines a scientific conference, expert and business programmes, and an exhibition of biotechnology companies. It offers an opportunity to discover new developments, discuss industry needs and find partners for collaboration.
Six scientific fields and lectures by leading researchers
The young scientists' conference spans six sections: molecular biology, virology, biophysics, biotechnology, bioinformatics and biomedicine.
The scientific programme also includes introductory lectures on genome architecture and plasticity, poxviruses and molecular modelling of viral proteins. Other topics include microbiome-targeted therapy, microorganisms as biofactories, computational drug design and predictive diagnostics.
From genetic technologies to AI in medicine
The OpenBio 2026 expert programme covers experimental virology, RNA and mRNA technologies, genetic technologies, artificial intelligence and medical data, biobanking and new deposition rules.
Participants will also discuss protection of biotech and medical developments and the search for and development of industrial producer strains. Particular attention goes to practical industry needs: equipment and reagent availability, promising developments and solutions capable of addressing current shortages.
Careers, business and professional connections
Another focus is scientific careers and development opportunities in academia and industry. Young researchers can explore different career paths and learn about companies' challenges.
